Lingayat & mutt politics seem to be the order of the day in Karnataka with both the Congress and BJP doing their best to woo the voters. Although congress faces rebellion over the lingayat issue with at least 60 members of the Veerashaiva Mahasabha opposing the govts decision and leader Shamanur Shivashankarappa hinting at joining the BJP. The grand old party seems to unnerved. Congress party president Rahul Gandhi who is in Karnataka has taken the campaign forward with its President Rahul Gandhi visiting temple mutts in the state.
