फाल्गुन पूर्णिमा को मनाया जाने वाला होली नामक त्यौहार वर्ष का अंतिम तथा जनसामान्य का सबसे बड़ा त्यौहार है. पौराणिक कथा के अनुसार असुरराज हिरण्यकश्यप के पुत्र प्रहलाद भगवान श्री हरी भक्त थे. हिरणाकश्यप उन्हें भगवान श्रीहरि की भक्ति करने से मना करता था. किंतु जब प्रहलाद नहीं माने तो हिरणाकश्यप उन्हें उन्हें मारने के अनेक उपाय किए, पहाड़ पर ले जाकर गहरी खाई में गिराया, मारने का प्रयत्न किया किन्तु विफल रहा. ..
