The 7th Pay Commission had a big role to play in the BJP's win at Tripura. It was a boiling issue and lakhs of employees were waiting for some good news on the implementation of the Pay Panel's recommendations. The BJP during its campaign sought for a vote for change. It raised issues such as unemployment which could not be addressed by the Left government which was in power for over 2 decades. In Tripura, salaries are still being paid to the employees on the basis of the 4th Pay Commission. This was an issue raised over and over again by the BJP and it even found its way into the party's vision document for the state.
