U.N. Calls For Immediate Ceasefire As Bombing Of Eastern Ghouta Takes Heavy Toll

According to a report by Reuters, pro-government forces bombarded Syria's eastern Ghouta killing at least 49 people on Tuesday, following the heaviest one-day death toll there in three years. On Monday, the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that around 127 people were killed in air raids, rocket strikes and shelling of the area near Damascus. Since the bombing intensified late on Sunday, approximately 190 people have died and 850 have been injured.
