On Thursday, UN security council members may vote on a temporary ceasefire for Syria's besieged Eastern Ghouta region, just one day after the UN's chief described the plight of the civilians trapped there as "hell on earth." According to a report by CNN, a draft resolution put forward by Sweden and Kuwait on Wednesday calls for a 30-day halt in the fighting in the rebel-held Damascus suburb, where continuing bombing has taken a heavy toll this week.
