Virginia Judge Rejects Volkswagen Bid to Delay Emissions Trial

On Tuesday, a Virginia state court judge rejected a request by Volkswagen, to delay several of the company's trials over excess emissions. Volkswagen said it feared “inflammatory” comments made by a lawyer representing car owners in a TV documentary could prejudice the jury. The Netflix documentary disclosed the that the company had jointly sponsored tests, that exposed monkeys in 2014 to toxic diesel fumes. Volkswagen fears this could prejudice its chances of receiving a fair trial.
