A game warden captured a wounded bald eagle in northeastern Oklahoma in mid February and brought it in for a medical evaluation, where it was found that the bird had likely been shot with a rifle and that part of the its wing needed to be amputated.The bird can be seen in this video released on February 19 trying to evade the game warden but appears to no longer be able to fly. The warden then wraps the eagle in a cloth and loads it onto the back of a truck.The bird was taken to a wildlife rehabilitation center where an examination showed a wound, consistent with a rifle shot, that required that part of the wing be amputated. The game wardens said that the bird would likely survive, but would be unable to fly again.Local news sources reported that veterinarians at the Tulsa Zoo were treating the eagle, which they are calling “Gentry”.Oklahoma Game Wardens said that the eagle was “likely shot near where it was found” and were asking for information on the incident.
