The southeastern city of Pohang was hit early this morning by a 4-point-6 magnitude earthquake, resulting in injuries and damages to facilities.
The Korea Meteorological Administration said the tremor is believed to be an aftershock of the 5-point-4-magitude quake that hit Pohang three months ago,... making it the strongest aftershock yet.
The quake struck at 5:03 a.m.,... about 5 kilometers northwest of Pohang... but was reportedly felt as far away as Seoul... with some 14-hundred calls coming in to fire stations.
Two people have been hospitalized while at least 20 people have returned to their homes after receiving medical treatment in nearby hospitals.
Emergency services in Pohang are checking buildings throughout the city, with some 30 cases of damage reported so far.
The operators of a nearby steel mill, a nuclear waste depository and the nation's nuclear power plants say their facilities have not been affected.
Since this morning's quake, at least seven aftershocks over 2-point-oh magnitude have been detected.
