সিরিয়ায় রাসায়নিক হামলার ঘটনায় আসাদ সরকারের জড়িত থাকার কোনো প্রমাণ পাওয়া যায়নি বলে জানিয়েছে পেন্টাগন। আসাদ সরকারের বিরুদ্ধে নতুন করে রাসায়নিক হামলার অভিযোগ তোলার পরপরই মার্কিন প্রতিরক্ষামন্ত্রী জিম ম্যাটিস বললেন, হামলার বিষয়ে যুক্তরাষ্ট্র উদ্বিগ্ন হলেও তদন্ত প্রতিবেদনে আসাদ বাহিনীর সম্পৃক্ততার প্রমাণ মেলেনি। এরমধ্যেই দেশটির উত্তর-পশ্চিমাঞ্চলে সরকারি বাহিনীর বিমান হামলায় নিহত হয়েছে ২৮ বেসামরিক। এছাড়া, আফরিনে কুর্দিবিরোধী অভিযান অব্যাহত রেখেছে তুরস্ক।
শুক্রবার আসাদ বাহিনীর আকস্মিক বিমান হামলায় কেঁপে ওঠে বিদ্রোহী নিয়ন্ত্রিত উত্তর-পশ্চিমাঞ্চলীয় আরবিন এলাকা। দফায় দফায় বিমান হামলায় বিধ্বস্ত হয়ে যায় সেখানকার আবাসিক ভবনগুলো। এতে নিহতের পাশাপাশি আহত হন অনেকে। হামলার ছোবল থেকে রেহায় পায়নি নিরীহ শিশুরাও।
