Trump: Pelosi's 'Crumbs' Comment On Tax Benefit Akin To Hillary's 'Deplorables' Remark

President Trump on Thursday said Nancy Pelosi's "crumbs" remark in reference to the tax benefit for many Americans is akin to Hillary Clinton's "deplorables" comment.

President Trump on Thursday compared House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's "crumbs" comment to the "deplorables" remark Hillary Clinton made during the 2016 presidential race, reports The Hill. Trump said to Republican lawmakers gathered at a retreat in West Virginia, "We got hit with these corporations giving tremendous bonuses to everybody that Nancy Pelosi called crumbs." "That could be like deplorable, does that make sense? Deplorable and crumbs? Those two words, they seem to have a resemblance," the president further commented. "I hope it has the same meaning...people are getting 1,000, 2,000, 3,000 dollars. That's not crumbs. That's a lot of money." Pelosi made the "crumbs" comment about two weeks ago and in reference to the recently passed $1.5 trillion tax-cut legislation, according to Fox News. "In terms of the bonus that corporate America receives versus the crumbs they are giving to workers to put the schmooze on is so pathetic," Pelosi said. "It's so pathetic." As for the "deplorables," the reference goes back to September of 2016.
"To just be grossly generalistic, you can put half of Trump supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right?" Clinton told a crowd in New York. "Racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic, you name it."
