Measles warning issued for travellers at Chicago airport

CHICAGO — A health warning was issued for anyone who was at Chicago O'Hare International Airport last Wednesday after someone tested positive for measles.

Measles is contagious and usually transmitted via the air or contact with an infected infected individual. According to the World Health Organization, it attacks the respiratory tract and then spreads across the body.

U.S. government information says symptoms can include fever, cough, runny nose, aches and white spots inside the mouth. No treatment exists for the virus, but immunization and vaccinations can help combat it.

The World Health organization says those most at risk include unvaccinated pregnant women and unvaccinated young children. Complications from the disease can lead to more serious health problems.
