Police Find 13 Siblings Held Captive in California Home The couple chained their 13 children to their beds. David Allen Turpin, 57, and Louise Anna Turpin, 49, were charged with torture and child endangerment. California police said the children ranged from two to 29 years old. A 17-year-old girl managed to escape and call the police to the residence. Police said the home was in deplorable condition and the children were extremely malnourished.
