China's stock market halts trading after nosediving 5% within minutes, U.S. markets open lower

Trading on Chinese stock markets was suspended on Thursday after the index dropped 7.3%in the first 30 minutes tripping automatic levers called "circuit breakers." China has said it is suspending the circuit breaker that has already halted the market twice this week. The Dow Jones Industrial average fell more than 310 points during early morning trading, but was able to regain half of its losses.
