Jumanji Roars Past The Post to Take Top Spot

A slew of stars rushed into the theatres this week with big releases, but it was Dwayne Johnson and company that held firm at the top spot.

Jumanji remained at the top of the box office with an estimated ticket take of $27 million, bringing in its total haul to an estimated $300 million domestically, and a worldwide earning of $667 million.

And that’s not too shabby.

Jumanji pushed Tom Hanks’ The Post to the number two position with a forecast of $18.6 million – which isn’t bad considering it started off slowly with a limited release.

Fox Studios is hoping the drama film will pick up around Oscar season, seeing that it has perennial powerhouses Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, and Steven Spielberg as it’s top billed.

The movie went home empty handed after the 2018 Golden Globe Awards and it didn’t get a nomination for the BAFTA’s either.

Oscar voting ends this week.
