8 Dead as Mudslides Rip Through California California, specifically Santa Barbara County, has been hit hard by mudslides just weeks after several fires tore through the area. At least 25 people have
also been injured. The Santa Barbara County Fire Department told ABC News that "dozens and dozens" of rescues have occurred on the ground. Fifty people have been rescued so far in Santa Barbara County, said county spokeswoman Valerie Kushnerov. Many more are feared to be
dead and buried beneath the mud.
