Former Vice President Joe Biden said in a PBS NewsHour interview that he agrees with the assessment of former Joint Chiefs of Staff chair Mike Mullen that the U.S. is closer than ever to a nuclear war with North Korea.

Joe Biden said in a PBS NewsHour interview on Thursday that he agrees with the recent assessment of former Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Mike Mullen that the U.S. is closer than ever to a nuclear war with North Korea.
Biden also noted that he's worried about the "fundamental miscalculations" that the Trump administration is making in dealing with North Korea.
"This is not a business deal," Biden added. "This is a totally different dynamic."
The former vice president then referred to Trump's "nuclear button" post and said that such tweets make our allies lose confidence in the U.S.
PBS host Judy Woodruff's question was prompted by concerns Mullen aired on Sunday.
"We're actually closer, in my view, to a nuclear war with North Korea and in that region than we have ever been," Mullen said on ABC News' 'This Week.' "And I just don't see how -- I don't see the opportunities to solve this diplomatically at this particular point."
His remark came days after the United Nations Security Council voted in favor of placing new sanctions on North Korea. In response, the Asian nation called the new sanctions "an act of war."
