Pipeline Safety Administration Falls Behind On New Inspection Rules

According to a recently released report by the General Accountability Office, pipeline safety officials are struggling to inspect natural gas storage sites and other facilities.
The report indicates that the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration was not fulfilling the demands of a new rule instituted after a massive leak in California.
The Aliso Canyon underground storage plant leaked natural gas for months before relief wells sealed a rupture.
