2017 Is The Year of the Woman!

Who knew when women took to the street in protest of President Donald Trump’s boasts of sexual assault to kick off the year, that twenty-seventeen into the Year of The Woman!

We doubt that When Rose McGowan and Asia Argento came forward to accuse Harvey Weinstein of rape, that they would inspire hundreds of other women to come forward with their own experiences of sexual assault and harassment in Hollywood.

Ashley Judd, Mira Sorvino, Angelina Jolie Gwyneth Paltrow, Taylor Swift, Lupita Nyong’o, Evan Rachel Wood, Reese Witherspoon, Lea Seydoux…

The list goes on and on but change is happening as more and more women share their stories.

But there is some light at the end of the tunnel,

Greta Gerwig’s Ladybird is a frontrunner to take home The Oscar for Best Picture.

As is Mudbound, directed by Stella Meghie, the only female African American director to get a wide release.

And then there’s Wonder Woman! Proving that yes, a female driven superhero movie can be an outstanding box office success.

Raking in in over four hundred and fifty million dollars so far this year turning Gal Gadot into an international star and inspiring the next generation of woman.
