Pairing a signature Australian sound with tales of her travels, singer-songwriter Peta Pomerenke shares contemporary folk music with a hint of country.
The past two years have seen her through a nomadic lifestyle of touring up and down Queensland's coast, followed by a year of travelling, writing and performing throughout parts of England.
Originally from a rural setting in The Lockyer Valley, Queensland, Peta spent several years as a resident of the Sunshine Coast. Her career as a solo performer stemmed from winning an open-mic competition one Friday night in Caloundra. A few years on, having played countless venues across the coast, Peta decided to head north.
Spending six months on the road, playing at locations as far as Port Douglas, Peta returned briefly to The Lockyer before flying to London with guitar in hand. Following twelve months of bouncing between cities and villages throughout England's South West, Peta returned from the UK late last year.
Now settled back on home turf here in Queensland, Peta has been performing at venues across South-East Queensland, the Southern Downs and parts of New South Wales, while compiling and recording material gathered on her journey.
Aside from frequenting her new gig circuit as a solo act, Peta is also part of newly formed acoustic folk/hip-hop duo 'Petal and Peace', formed with Brisbane hip-hop artist Adan Carter.
Peta plans to release a new single this winter, as well as expand her circuit to parts of Brisbane and her former home of The Sunshine Coast.
