Klaus Harvey was born in India and grew up in Belfast and Kilkenny before settling in Dublin where he began his musical odyssey. He began by playing solo, supporting the likes of Tracy Chapman and Michelle Shocked, then formed several bands that played everything from folk to grunge and back again.
He now lives in Kinsale and his current band, The Good Rain, have been together since 2008. With Lea Miklody on cello and Will Flanagan on cajon, they play original and darkly-tinged alternative acoustic music, influenced as much by post punk as Americana and folk. Eircana music blog described the music as dark, ethereal and humorous.
So far the band has self-released an album, Some Other Plan, and an EP, Watch the Universe Expand, both of which receieved positive reviews. The latter was honoured in Eircana’s best of 2016 list.
