Winds Kick Up as California Fires Spread

Dry conditions and Santa Ana winds stirred several wildfires in southern California on Thursday, December 7, mostly blazing north of Los Angeles. Firefighters quickly brought a blaze near Malibu under control, but other fires were spreading.The 96,000-acre Thomas fire, the largest, reached the Pacific Ocean Wednesday night. The Creek and Rye fires have burned nearly 20,000 acres. Thousands of homes have been evacuated.This video contains the latest satellite imagery from NOAA’s GOES West satellite.
