Russell Simmons is stepping down from his media enterprise, following two claims of sexual misconduct.
In a statement, Simmons added he did not want to be a distraction at the business he built into an entertainment and production company beyond music.
Simmons co-founded Def Jam Recordings in 1984.
The accusations come from two women who recently recalled separate incidents in 1991.
