How do astronomers search for life on other worlds?

Astronomers have discovered thousands of planets outside our Solar System. Some of these worlds, including the moons, Europa and Enceladus, could serve as candidates for possible life. And yet despite the continuous search, only Earth remains the sole harbor of life.
