A woman has raised over $150,000 to help a homeless man who gave his last $20 to help her.
Kate McClure says that she was on her way to Philadelphia when her car ran out of gas, reports WPVI.
Soon after, a homeless man named Johnny appeared and said he'd take care of it, notes Philly.com.
He returned with a can of gas, which he'd used all of his money to buy.
McClure went back to see Johnny on a number of occasions to give him food, water, and warm clothes and learned that he had served in the Marines and been a paramedic before falling on tough times.
Wanting to help him get back on his feet, she set up a GoFundMe campaign in hopes of raising $10,000 so she could secure him an apartment, find him a dependable car, and give him enough money to live on for a few months.
That goal has been far exceeded, and Johnny should soon be well on his way to achieving his goal which, according to Philly.com, is to acquire a job at the area Amazon warehouse because it comes with health benefits.
