Is China's President Xi mimicking Mao Zedong?

Chinese citizens are growing used to seeing President Xi Jinping's smiling face on posters and billboards across the country. Some expert believe Xi is emulating Mao Zedong, who used his likeness to create a cult of personality during his brutal rule over China in 1945-1976. Some ever suggest Xi airbrushed his official portrait to appear more like Mao's.

In an additional nod to Mao, Xi's portrait is often accompanied by his slogans. It seems Xi could be creating a cult of personality in order to exert control of the country while stripping the Chinese people of their already limited freedoms.
