Anti-War Monument Symbolizes Syrian War And Civilians' Suffering

Syrian-German artist Manaf Halbouni has created one shocking anti-war monument.

The monument, installed in Berlin near Brandenburg Gate, features two upturned buses. The exhibit mirrors the buses that were placed on a street in Aleppo in 2015 to protect civilians from sniper fire.

The installation drew criticism from far right groups when it was set up in Dresden earlier in the year. Halbouni says the buses symbolize peace, freedom and humanity, and is intended to be a stark reminder of the war in Syria, just a few thousand miles away.
