India were bundled out for 172 in their 1st innings after their top order crubbled misreably in front of the bowling of the Lankans. Kohli, Rahul and Dhawan were dismissied cheaply on day one, and then India lost two wickets on day two and finally on day 3 rest of the batsman were back into the dressing room before lunch. India’s famed batting order will face another stiff test on Day 3 of the first Test at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens on Friday. The home team was rocked by Sri Lankan pacer Suranga Lakmal on a rain-hit first day after Virat Kohli lost the toss and India were asked to bat first. Only 11.5 overs were possible on Thursday but on a seaming deck, Lakmal bowled the right length to leave a telling mark on the Indian top order. Kohli and KL Rahul made ducks as Lakmal’s three wickets for no runs left the Lankans with an extra spring in their step.
