George Clooney to Direct and Star in Catch-22 Miniseries

George Clooney hasn’t starred in a television show since 1999.

But he’s coming back to the small screen.

The Oscar winner is developing a new miniseries based on the famous novel Catch-22, and not only will he co-star in the shows, he’ll also co-direct the series.

The show is planned for a six-episode run and he’s partnering with Paramount Television and Anonymous Content and production is expected to begin in 2018.

Clooney, who has written a number of projects, is not writing or co-writing any of the teleplays.

The novel follows a US airman as he attempts to avoid the fighting in Italy in World War Two… and as death closes in, he tries various ways of getting himself out of combat, he comes face-to-face with the army’s Catch-22 policy. That policy states if one is rational to try to evade combat, then they are sane enough to continue fighting.

Clooney will co-direct the episode with long time collaborator Grant Heslov.
