Chennai rains puts city to a stand still, several areas inundated by rainwaters | Oneindia News

As predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rain lashed Chennai on Tuesday. Because of heavy rainfall, several areas in the city were inundated by rainwaters. According to a report, Chennai's Anna Nagar west area was completely waterlogged following heavy rains in the city. The IMD predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Chennai and at least eight other coastal districts in Tamil Nadu over the next 24 hours on Monday. Chennai and other coastal areas in Tamil Nadu started getting rainfall since Monday. The rains have been caused by the cyclonic circulation which is currently prevailing over the Southwest Bay of Bengal off the Sri Lankan coast and the Tamil Nadu coast.
