Matt Damon Denies He Tried to Kill Harvey Weinstein Story
  • 7 years ago
Matt Damon has finally addressed the rumor that he tried to kill a NY Times story about Harvey Weinstein’s behavior 13 years ago…

And he is flat out denying it.

The actor made his first public appearance since the Weinstein story broke at the premiere of Thor: Ragnarok in Los Angeles… and even though he stayed quiet at the premiere, he told Deadline all about what happened when the New York Times wanted a quote for their story.

Matt says that Harvey called him to inform him that the Times was writing a negative article about Fabrizio Lombardo, the man that ran Mirmax’s Italian office. And Harvey wanted Matt to vouch for him since they had worked in a professional capacity – which Matt did.

Damon said he had a one minute phone call with Sharon Waxman back in 2004 and what he said didn’t even make the article.

But Matt wants to clarify that he was never told the Times was doing a piece on Harvey’s indiscretions or what they’re reading about now.

And he wants everyone to know that he would NEVER abide the kind of behavior Harvey has engaged in… and as the father of four daughters, this kind of sexual predation keeps him up at night.

Matt even mentioned that if he was ever at an event where Harvey was doing this type of behavior and he didn’t see it, then he is deeply sorry, because he would have stopped it.

So for the record, Matt is completely denying that he would ever try to kill a story like that… and even Jessica Chastain has weighed in, saying that Matt was manipulated, and she included a link to Deadline’s story.
