Sen. Sanders Blasts Trump’s Puerto Rico Attacks: ‘I Don’t Know What World Trump Is Living In’

Senator Bernie Sanders has blasted President Trump for his recent comments about Puerto Rico.

Senator Bernie Sanders blasted President Trump on Sunday for his recent tweets about Puerto Rico, with the Democrat saying he doesn’t “know what world Trump is living in.”

The Vermont lawmaker made the comment after CNN’s Jake Tapper asked him about the president tweeting Saturday that some Puerto Rican leaders “want everything to be done for them....”
“Speaking from his fancy golf club playing golf with his billionaire friends, attacking the mayor of San Juan who is struggling to bring electricity to the island, food to the island, water to the island, gas to the island--that is unspeakable," Sanders responded. "And I don’t know what world Trump is living in. People in Puerto Rico are suffering one of the worst disasters in the history of that island. We have got to do everything we can to help them.”
Trump has been outspoken against San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz in particular, tweeting, "The Mayor of San Juan, who was very complimentary only a few days ago, has now been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump."
“Results of recovery efforts will speak much louder than complaints by San Juan Mayor. Doing everything we can to help great people of PR!” Trump said in another tweet.
Trump’s attacks followed Cruz's criticism of the federal government’s recovery efforts.
“If anybody out there is listening to us, we are dying. And you are killing us with the inefficiency and the bureaucracy,” Cruz told reporters on Friday.
