Britain and Ireland hold Brexit and NI assembly talks

The British Prime Minister Theresa May has held talks at Downing Street with the Irish premier Leo Varadkar.
It is May’s first meeting with a European Union leader since her keynote Florence speech on Friday in which she set out her plans for Brexit.
Varadkar said he wanted to ensure a close relationship between Ireland and the UK is maintained post-Brexit, and that the common travel area remained in place.
He described her proposal for a post-Brexit transitional period as a “step in the right direction.”
The pair also discussed kickstarting Northern Ireland’s stalled executive assembly; with Varadkar adding that it was important the UK didn’t want any physical border.
