Trucks on Train | Automobile Rail Transport | Indian Railways

Enjoy watching the extremely rare footage of Brand new Trucks being shipped on Rails. Ashok Leyland 1616il (Yellow) and U-Truck (White) , 64 Ashok Leyland Trucks moving Southwards on 32 Wagons. This is one of the cheapest ways to transport Automobiles using Railways which is much faster and safer compared to Road Transportation which would require several huge Trucks to load these.\r

A regular service called Roll on – Roll off (RO-RO) is offered for transporting Loaded Trucks over Rails. Presently Konkan Railway is the only Zone offering such a Service in India . The service is available from Kolad (145 kms. from Mumbai), Verna (12 kms. from Madgaon) upto Surathkal (20 kms. from Mangalore) and vice-versa. There are plans to implement these Services in other parts of India soon.\r
