Conservative commentator Ann Coulter is attracting controversy again.
This time, the subject matter involves the factors behind Hurricane Harvey and the resulting damage in Houston and other areas. In a tweet on Monday, Coulter suggested that the election of a lesbian mayor would be a 'more credible' potential reason for the storm than climate change.
"I don't believe Hurricane Harvey is God's punishment for Houston electing a lesbian mayor," Coulter said. "But that is more credible than 'climate change.'"
Her tweet was in response to Politico’s, "Now is the time to say it as loudly as possible: Harvey is what climate change looks like."
Coulter was apparently referring to Annise Parker, the openly gay mayor of Houston from 2010 to 2016.
According to the Huffington Post, Coulter is "no stranger to making anti-gay claims," as she has stated in the past, “marriage is not a civil right."
Coulter's tweet spurred quite a few reactions, including, "as a lesbian woman, I can confirm we have Hurricane magic," and "gay induced flood. What next you gonna blame us for your book flopping too?"
