This Charming Tavern Is Split Between Slovenia and Croatia

Kalin Tavern is a 180-year-old bar that has the rare distinction of being in two countries at the same time. Half the pub is in Obrezje, Slovenia and half is in Bregana, Croatia. Slovenia and Croatia used to be part of Yugoslavia, which broke apart in 1991. The restaurant and inn's owner, Sasha Kalin, is the son of a Slovenian man and Croatian woman, making him the living, breathing embodiment of the venue's spirit and rich history.
