YSRCP candidate Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy said that Nandyal seat belongs to the YSRCP as Bhuma Nagi Reddy won as party MLA in 2014. He asked the TDP to leave Nandyal seat to YSRCP. He further said that Bhuma Nagi Reddy’s brother son Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy, who is contesting for Nandyal by-poll on TDP ticket, cannot become the member of a Bhuma Nagi Reddy. But, Akhila Priya said that her father had treated his children and his brother’s children equally.
