Torrential Rain Causes River Levels to Rise in Thailand's Northeast

Sakon Nakhon, a city and municipality in Thailand’s northeast, was flooded after torrential rain pummeled the area over the weekend of July 29, causing the local lake to overflow.According to Bangkok Post, Nong Han Lake, Sakon Nakhon’s main water catchment area, was overwhelmed with rainfall from the nearby Phu Phan mountain. The lake’s levels raised and flooded the downtown areas of the city, creating pools that were recorded at 1.5 meters (nearly 5 feet) deep.This footage shows a glimpse of the overflowing lake and its surrounding environs.
