California’s Garza Fire became the largest active wildfire in the state on Friday, July 14, surpassing the Alamo Fire in size. As of Saturday, the fire stood at 48,403 acres and was 64 percent contained, according to Cal Fire’s incident page.Nearly 1,400 firefighters were battling the fire, including the California National Guard. Firefighters found a hunting cabin on Thursday that had been destroyed by the fire, according to a news report.The Alamo Fire stood at 28,687 acres on Saturday and was 93 percent contained.
