China has set up its first overseas military base in an African country called Djibouti situated in the horn of the continent. ships are being sent carrying Chinese military personnel. China says it began construction of a logistics base in Djibouti last year that will resupply naval vessels taking part in peacekeeping and humanitarian missions in African countries. But Djibouti’s position on the northwestern edge of the Indian Ocean has fuelled worries in India.
