Arizona Town Evacuated as Goodwin Fire Grows to More Than 20,000 Acres

The entire town of Mayer, Arizona was evacuated on June 27, moments before the Goodwin Fire crossed the highway and jumped into the town limits. On Wednesday morning, the fire was reported to have grown to 20,000 acres.According to an incident report, the fast moving fire is 1 percent contained. Southwest winds of 15-20 mph and wind gusts up to 30 mph are making the fire difficult to contain.On Wednesday morning, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey tweeted that the Goodwin Fire is the state’s top priority.
