Virender Sehwag was asked by BCCI to apply for the job but the aggressive batsman was reluctant to apply. Later, Kohli himself contacted Sehwag during the Indian Premier League and urged him to throw his hat in the ring. Sehwag is in England covering the Champions Trophy and keeping a close eye on Indian team, especially on coach Kumble and skipper Kohli.
