Dressing for Herself, No Man’s Approval Needed: Ellen Elias

Ellen Elias, the East African born and Swedish raised star of our new What’s Underneath, won’t be dressing down for men anytime soon. Ellen used to go out in a little black dress so as not to intimidate guys, but she realized that the kind of man she wanted was one who could accept her over-the-top style and the beauty, brains, and strength that it reflects. Ellen isn’t interested in a typical boyfriend, nor will she conform to stereotypes that limit how black women "should be." As Ellen says, “I try to be me to the fullest, and if that’s black, then that’s black.” To find out more about how Ellen got her irrepressible confidence, watch her story in our new What’s Underneath episode!
