Losing a 30 Year Marriage and Finding Her Gumption: Gretta

We traveled to London’s Southbank Centre to conduct What’s Underneath interviews as an open call in a public setting. We weren’t sure what to expect, but eager participants stepped up to share their stories as an audience accumulated. Watch six women strip down and open up in our first ever Open Call.

It was happenstance that our casting director Mona spotted Gretta in The Southbank Centre, her favorite building where she had stopped in for a coffee. She was on her way home from a hotel where she had just had an encounter with a man she met online, and being in a ‘yes’ mood, spontaneously agreed to step out of her comfort zone and participate in our interviews. Gretta was married for almost thirty years, and it had ended about 6 months previously. A quintessential example of how what can seem like your lowest point is actually a portal to your freedom, she was truly inspiring in her raw courage to share exactly where she is in her life, stepping out from the prescribed roles of ‘wife’ and ‘mother’ and anxiously exploring the possibilities for the future as her new old self -- capable, sexy, naughty, and rebellious. As Gretta explains, "It’s not about comfort. I want to be pushed a bit more."
