Demonstrators Chant for President's Resignation in Rio de Janeiro

Demonstrators gathered in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to demand the resignation of president Michel Temer and new elections on Thursday, May 18. Temer has been accused of paying for the silence of a congressman during a corruption investigation.These videos show protesters chanting “Temer Dictator” and marching through Rio’s downtown.On Wednesday, O Globo said two businessmen recorded the president allegedly approving payments to buy the silence of former lower house Speaker Eduardo Cunha with prosecutors. Cunha, who led the impeachment process against President Dilma Rousseff, was convicted of corruption, money laundering and tax evasion in March.Temer denied the accusations and said he won’t resign at a national address on Thursday afternoon.
