Son of ATO Deputy Commissioner Arrested Over Massive Tax Fraud Conspiracy

The son of a high-ranking member of the Australian Tax Office was arrested for his involvement in a $165 million tax fraud on May 17.The Australian Federal Police said Adam Cranston, the son of deputy tax commissioner Michael Cranston, was arrested at his flat in Bondi during Sydney wide-raids conducted by the police on Wednesday.The Daily Telegraph reported Cranston, 30, was charged on Wednesday night with conspiracy to defraud the commonwealth. It is understood he was one of the main conspirators and that his father had no knowledge of his son’s alleged activities.The raid was one of 27 conducted in a city wide raid led by a national task force called Operation Morpheus. The AFP said almost 200 outlaw motorcycle gang members were also targeted for tax evasion.
