More details emerge in Boston doctors’ chilling double murder

BOSTON — More details have emerged about the gruesome killing of two Boston anaesthesiologists, as authorities try to piece together what happened.
The Boston Globe reports that on Friday, suspect Bampumim Teixeira, 30, somehow managed to gain entry into a penthouse apartment of Drs. Richard Field and Lina Bolanos. The unit was located on the 11th floor, which could only be accessed with a key.
A friend alerted the police after receiving a text message from Dr. Field saying there was an armed man in his house.
Officers arrived to find a set of keys on the floor outside the apartment, and used it to open the door when no one responded to their knocks.
Inside, they encountered the suspect in a darkened hallway and opened fire, hitting him in the left hand, abdomen, and leg.
As he was being apprehended, Teixeira warned police of another person in the building who was armed. A SWAT team swept and secured the building, but found no one else who was a threat.
Inside the apartment, Field and his fiance Dr. Lina Bolanos were found dead with their hands bound. The couple’s throats had been slit.
Police recovered a black backpack filled with jewelry from the premises, as well as a replica or BB gun, and a knife.
The apartment walls were found splattered with blood, and investigators later said photos of the couple had been cut up, and a message of retribution scrawled on a wall.
Teixeira is in the hospital for his injuries, but was arraigned on Monday on two counts of murder. It’s still unclear what his motive was for the killings.
