Boston doctors found with throats slit in luxury condo

BOSTON — The motive behind the brutal killing of two Boston doctors on Friday remains a mystery, as suspect Bampumim Teixeira, 30, makes his first appearance in court.
Teixeira was known to victims Richard Field, 49, and Lina Bolanos, 38, according to officials, although they did not say how. Both victims were anesthesiologists and were engaged to be married.
Teixeira somehow gained entry to the doctors’ 11th floor penthouse apartment. Neighbors said the building has tight security and the floor requires key access, CBS Boston reported.
In the moments before he was killed, Field sent a text message to a friend saying there was an armed man inside his apartment. The friend then called the police.
Police arrived at the scene and exchanged gunfire with Teixeira. They later found Field and Bolanos with their hands tied and throats slashed.
Teixeira was injured in the gun battle and arrested by police. He was recently released from prison after serving nine months for bank robbery.
Investigators said they found blood and a message of retribution on the wall of the apartment, and cut up photos of the doctors, the Boston Globe reported. Officials did not reveal what the message said.
Teixeira was scheduled to appear in court on Monday and is likely to face multiple charges including two counts of murder.
