West Mims Fire Continues to Wreak Havoc in Charlton County

Residents parts of Georgia were closely watching the development of the West Mims Fire on May 8, as the massive blaze continued to wreak havoc in the area. Schools were closed in Charlton County on Monday, with St. George the worst affected area.Evacuation orders were issued for residents of St. George, as the blaze had burned more than 133,000 acres in the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge over a month, according to authorities.More than 600 firefighters, 10 helicopters and 59 fire engines were deployed to fight the fire scorching parts of the Florida-Georgia border, Action News Jax reported.
