Plasma strands several times the size of Earth “shifted and twisted” above the surface of the sun as they were pushed and pulled by magnetic forces over a 22-hour period May 2 and 3, according to NASA.NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory captured this phenomenon using a particular wavelength of extreme ultraviolet light.
