Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan talked about plans to establish safe zones in Syria. The two leaders met on Wednesday in the Russian resort town of Sochi to discuss ways to “de-escalate” the conflict in the Syrian government. Putin stated that the safe zones will be made in order to protect civilians in the war-torn country. They plan to create buffer zones in four different areas of Syria that will be patrolled by troops from Turkey, Russia, and Iran. Putin also talked to U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday about the safe zones, which the Russian president said that he has support from the American administration.
